In a fab, the loss is never the asset.

A fab runs near full utilisation around the clock, and almost everything inside it is extremely valuable or extremely sensitive:

  • Reticles and wafer carriers whose contents are worth more than the equipment moving them
  • Chamber parts and metrology equipment held in small numbers, needed the minute a tool goes down
  • Calibration equipment that has to be traceable to the hour

When one cannot be found, the cost is not the asset. It is the tool standing idle while somebody searches the bays, and the material in process when a decision was made based on an inaccurate record.

GlobeRanger reads the tags and barcodes those assets already carry and maintains a record of their location and condition. A carrier that moves outside its required humidity range or a reticle that experiences a shock raises an exception.

It runs at the edge, which matters in a fab more than almost anywhere. Process networks are segregated deliberately, and the record stays complete inside them.

Baker Hill Industries runs GlobeRanger to track precision machined components in real time through manufacturing, for aerospace, defence, medical and commercial customers. What carries over to a fab is a high value part locatable at every step of a process, not only at the beginning and the end.

There is no network inside an ammunition bunker.

A German defence manufacturer stores ammunition and explosives in former bunkers, hazard classes 1.1 to 1.4. Each bunker has its own installation. Stock is confirmed by scanning, with no connection to the outside and without anyone counting by hand.
